Municipal Information
Town Description
Author E.B. White was so fond of his chosen hometown that he tried to throw as many people off the track as he could. White described Brooklin as “a New England coastal town, somewhere between Nova Scotia and Cuba.”
Those who persist and find Brooklin are rewarded by the town’s beauty, its many boat builders (WoodenBoat magazine is based here) and its welcoming atmosphere. Summer visitors enjoy the work of local artists, a farmers market and the courses offered at the WoodenBoat School.
Brooklin has a small village center, with shops, a library, restaurant and pub, general store, and post office. A town landing can be found at Naskeag Point, a short drive from the village.
The Brooklin Town Band is a fixture both in the community and surrounding towns, playing several parades, festivals and other events throughout the summer.
